PREPARATION FOR

Pelvic / obstetric

KEY REQUIREMENTFull bladder

Empty your bladder 1½ hours before your examination.

Drink 1 litre of water over the next 30 minutes, then hold your bladder.

A full bladder is required in the 1st and 2nd trimesters; half-full in the 3rd trimester.

For every appointmentArrive 15 minutes early in loose, comfortable clothing. Bring your referral and any previous imaging reports.

Do not stop or change medication unless authorised by an appropriate healthcare professional. If you are unsure, pregnant, diabetic or unable to follow the instructions, call the clinic.

Check in

Arrive 15 minutes early. Reception will confirm your details and a signature is required before the examination.

Meet your sonographer

A qualified sonographer will explain the examination. You may need to change depending on the area being scanned.

Your examination

Most appointments take 20–60 minutes. A support person may attend, subject to the examination and available space.

Afterwards

Check with reception before leaving. Your referrer will advise you about your results and next steps.

what happens next.

A consultant radiologist interprets the examination. Reports are sent securely to your referrer—usually within 48 hours, although timing cannot be guaranteed. Urgent findings are communicated directly and expedited.

REFERRALS

A referral is required

You can book before it arrives. Referrals are valid for 12 months and may come from doctors and eligible allied health professionals, subject to limitations.

FEES

Fees vary by examination. Bulk-billing and concession arrangements may apply. Payment is due at your examination by cash, card or bank transfer.

ACCESS

Easy clinic access

Parking is directly in front. Accessible parking, step-free entry, wheelchair access and an accessible toilet are available.

CHANGES

Call as early as possible

There is no cancellation fee. Late arrivals may be accommodated, but sometimes the appointment will need to be rescheduled.
